How To Determine the Correct Size of Acrylic Disks:
1. Measure your baked cakes.
This is very important because everyone's cake recipes shrink differently.
2. Decide how thick of a layer of icing you'll want.
We offer .00 inch, .25 inch, and .5 inch Disk Sizings. If you're covering with fondant, you'll want a thinner amount of icing. If you are not using fondant, you may want a thicker amount of icing. If you are covering with fondant, add .25 inches to the measurement of your cake width. If you're only using buttercream, add .5 inches to the measurement of your cake width. If you're doing a semi-naked cake, do not add anything to the measurement of your cake width.
3. Take your personal preference into consideration.
Do you like LOTS of icing under your fondant? Do you prefer a very thin layer of buttercream on your cakes? You do YOU! If you know your own preferences, purchase accordingly. If you are unsure, go for the thinner sizing. You can always trim your cakes around the edges so a thicker layer of icing is added.
