The Cardboard CakeSafe-LITE: An Affordable Cake Transport Box for Stress-Free Delivery
The budget-friendly cake delivery box from the inventors of the original patented CakeSafe — now available for bakers of every skill level.
Transporting a cake shouldn't be the most stressful part of making one. That's exactly why we created the CakeSafe-LITE. It's a corrugated cardboard cake transport box that gives you real protection, stability, and peace of mind at a fraction of the cost of the original CakeSafe Box.
Whether you're delivering a wedding cake across town or handing off a birthday cake to a customer, The CakeSafe-LITE keeps your work safe from start to finish.
What Is The CakeSafe-LITE?
CakeSafe-LITE is a patent-pending, double-layered corrugated cardboard cake delivery box designed for secure cake transportation. It uses the same core principles as the original CakeSafe Box, including the patented center rod stabilization system, at a price point that works for hobbyists, home bakers, and high-volume bakeries alike.
Interior dimensions: 14 inches wide × 13 inches tall
What's Included
Every CakeSafe-LITE ships flat with assembly instructions.
- Sturdy Bottom — Durable corrugated cardboard with a white finish
- Secure Top — Features a large clear plastic window so you can see your cake at all times
- Washable Foam Pad (1-inch thick) — Absorbs road vibrations and holds the center rod in place
- Patented CakeSafe® Center Rod Guide Piece — Keeps your cake stable during transport
- 2 Cardboard Inserts (14-inch) — One goes in the bottom box for support; keep the second for your next delivery
- 2 Wooden Center Rods (3/8-inch thick, sharpened end) — Provides the vertical stability your cake needs
- 2 Top Knobs — Makes inserting the center rod quick and easy
Buying a bundle of two? You'll get double of everything listed above.
Key Features of the The CakeSafe-LITE Cake Box
- Dual-layer insulation — Protects cakes from heat and environmental elements during transport
- Clear plastic window — Monitor your cake the entire time without opening the box
- Patented center rod system — Prevents cake shifting, leaning, or toppling on bumpy roads
- Fully enclosed structure — Shields your cake from rain, wind, and dust in addition to sudden stops, sharp turns, and rough roads
What Size Cake Fits in The CakeSafe-LITE?
CakeSafe-LITE accommodates cakes with a cake drum or base up to 14 inches — the base doesn't need to fill the entire box. The total cake height, including the base, must be 13 inches or shorter.
The CakeSafe-LITE comes in one size. If you need more size options, our original CakeSafe Box is available in 10 different sizes.
Do I Need to Change How I Assemble My Cakes?
No, The CakeSafe-LITE is designed to work with your existing cake assembly method. Just follow these simple guidelines:
- Use cardboard cake rounds between each tier for tiered cakes
- Insert perimeter dowels as normal, but skip the center dowel; CakeSafe-LITE's patented center rod handles that
- Make sure your cake drum or base is ½ inch thick or less and made of cardboard or foam-core (something a fork can pierce through)
- For single-tier or lightweight cakes, use a ¼-inch cake drum or one of our CakeSafe-compatible acrylic bases
That's it. Detailed instructions are included with every order.
Who Is The CakeSafe-LITE For?
Casual Bakers & Hobbyists: If you're the one everyone calls for birthdays, weddings, and anniversaries, The CakeSafe-LITE means your cake arrives exactly the way it left your kitchen — no stress, no disasters.
Bakery Owners & Professional Cake Designers: For high-volume deliveries or customer pickups, The CakeSafe-LITE keeps every cake pristine, whether it's your staff or your customer doing the driving.
Cake Customers & Event Planners: Picking up a custom cake? Ask your baker about sending it home in a CakeSafe-LITE. No more white-knuckling turns or worrying about bumps — your cake travels safely so it arrives beautifully.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is The CakeSafe-LITE reusable?
Yes, The CakeSafe-LITE is reusable for many deliveries as long as it hasn't experienced extreme damage (think: car accidents, being dropped, crushed, or — yes, it happens — left on a car roof and driven away). Treat it well and it'll be with you for about 10 deliveries. Then you can recycle or compost the cardboard parts.
How do I clean The CakeSafe-LITE?
Wipe any buttercream spots off the interior or exterior. The foam pad can be washed with warm water and mild soap. The wooden center rod can be cleaned with soap and water, though we recommend using a fresh rod for each delivery for best hygiene.
Can The CakeSafe-LITE transport tiered cakes?
Yes. CakeSafe-LITE is designed to transport tiered cakes securely using the patented center rod system. Just follow the assembly guidelines above.
How is The CakeSafe-LITE different from the original CakeSafe Box?
The CakeSafe-LITE is made from corrugated cardboard rather than the insulating hard-shell material of the original CakeSafe Box, making it a more affordable option. The original CakeSafe Box is available in 10 sizes; CakeSafe-LITE comes in one size (14" × 13").
What is the return policy?
The CakeSafe-LITE is not returnable once assembled or removed from original packaging, due to food safety protocols. Unassembled items in original packaging may be returned.
